🌞 Do you know a bright child who is thriving in so many ways, but seems to struggle with comprehension and/or expressing themselves? ↪ Enter Development Language Disorder (DLD). The hidden disability so few have heard of, but so many struggle with (we're talking 2 students in every classroom!). People with DLD have a unique difficulty understanding and/or using language. They do NOT have low intelligence and often excel in multiple other skills! Forutnately, our team of Certified Practising Speech Pathologists are specially trained to assess, diagnose and treat DLD, and with the right help, these bright little buttons can significantly reduce the frustrating language gap between them and their peers. 1 session? 1 term? 1 year? 🤔 It depends! Communication is a complex thing, and we know from experience that everyone who walks through our (virtual!) doors will respond to therapy differently. However, what we can say with certainty is that some conditions are much more likely to require long-term therapy (swipe to find out which ones! ➡) than some others (such as a simple articulation error) that can be fixed quickly with the right approach. But of course, how much time you and your family are currently able to commit to speech therapy is a different conversation altogether, and is something to discuss privately with your therapist.
